ICCIUK, within the project "The Extraordinary Italian Taste" to raise awareness on the benefits deriving from the use of authentic Italian products and to increase their consumption in foreign markets, organized a guided tasting. The tasting involved a select group of journalists, writers, bloggers and UK food professionals. The dinner meant to be an unique opportunity to enjoy authentic Italian products and dishes, prepared and presented by the Italian chef Giorgio Locatelli. Such events underline the importance of protecting authentic Italian cuisine and Made in Italy culinary traditions.
During the guided tasting, Chef Locatelli insisted on the value of PDO and PGI certifications, telling the story of the origin of various authentic Italian products and underlining their fundamental importance for any truly typical dish in the Italian culinary tradition. Various certified products have been therefore tasted, including Parmigiano Reggiano, Prosciutto di Parma, Mozzarella di bufala campana, Aceto Balsamico di Modena, a number of Extra Virgin Olive Oils, Pistacchio di Bronte and many others.
